Teaching

This semester I will offer a lecture on "Convex Optimization for Computer Vision".

Also, students are more than welcome to contact me regarding final theses, IDPs, or guided research projects.

Research interests

I am interested in mathematical models in image processing and computer vision. My main focus lies on variational methods with non-smooth regularization terms, like the total variation and the ell^1 norm, as well as on efficient algorithms for determining their minimizers. One particular type of approach I am interested in are multi scale methods arising from Bregman iteration and its continuous limit, the inverse scale space flow.

Short Bio

After spending a total time of two years as a visiting researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, UCLA, during which I worked with Prof. Andrea Bertozzi and Prof. Stanley Osher, I graduated with a doctoral degree in mathematics from the University of Muenster under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Martin Burger. From September 2012 to March 2014 I worked in the image science group at the Arnold & Richter Cine Technik GmbH & Co. Betriebs KG (ARRI, www.arri.com), Munich, Germany. In April 2014, I returned to academia and joined the Computer Vision Group of Prof. Dr. Daniel Cremers as a Postdoctoral researcher.
